Above ground pool fencing are available in modular form that you can install on your own. All you need to do is determine the specifications of your pool and buy the sections that you will need. It only requires some basic manual skills and the use of simple tools. It is also easy to install such that installing above ground pool fencing for a 24 foot pool will require around two hours' assembly time.
Here are the tools you will need: a drill with Phillips drill bits to fit, a measuring tape, a hacksaw, a level, pliers or grips, some PVC glue or silicone caulk for fixing post caps, a utility knife and a pencil. Remember that you have to use safety glasses when using a power tool. This is to protect your eyes. When installing modular above ground pool fencing, the adage that two are better than one is true. It is easier to install the fence with two people working, rather than one.
Some installation tips for fixing your above ground pool fencing include using lockable pliers or vice grips to fix the fence post in position with the mounting bracket while fastening the screws together. Install one section at a time and use the level to check each section as you fit it around the pool as this will not only make the finished appearance more pleasing but make it easier for your to assemble.
Once you have the modular kit, lay all the pieces out around the pool where you will install the fence. That way, you can check whether you have the complete set and you will have an idea of where each component is to be placed. It is better to know even before you start installing if there is some missing part rather to start working only to discover that you have need something that is not there.
Now, before you start the assembly, check the components, particularly the pool caps. Check the maximum height of each pool cap because the mounting brackets will have to clear them and result in uniform height throughout the pool. See if these are all of the same size. Of particular note are the pool caps for oval pools, as these usually have different sizes. Also, check the skimmers and any projections so that you know what you will need to do during the installation.
When assembling, do not cut more than one section of horizontal fence rail at a time. You need to measure each section as you install each fence post as the difference between posts may vary slightly. Make sure that you also leave at least inch clearance over the pool caps to allow for a winter cover to be fitted.
An above ground pool fence is very useful in helping you keep your pool safe from unwanted intruders and from accidents. It makes sure that only the things and people who belong can enter the pool area. Plus, it adds to the overall appearance of your pool. However, bear in mind that in pool safety, nothing beats the presence and supervision of an adult particularly when children are in the pool.
